Alex straightened his shirt, checking himself in the mirror one last time. He wasn't dressed too fancily in jeans and a blue striped button-down. Checking his watch he saw it was almost 3, time to go. Twisting on his heel he arrived in Diagon Alley, in front of a small block of flats. He walked up the rickety stairs and knocked on Elle's door.
He hoped he'd remembered right and that she'd like his surprise. He'd told her not too dress up too much so she would be able to duel without ruining her outfit. Hopefully he'd be able to take her to dinner as well. He'd been getting odd vibes from her, one moment she'd been just as he remembered, playful and cheeky, the next she would practically withdraw. Perhaps she found their new age difference too great. He was much older now, more seamed with scars, turning grey at the temples from a stressful life. As the door opened he smiled warmly, presenting her with the single red rose he held. "You look great."
