She’d said she would do it, and so she had. It was a Friday night and Rowena was out at a bar. And there was something to be said for dancing with strangers. The soft jazz eased all the week’s stress away and Rowena grinned at her current dance partner before sliding her hand down his arm and linking it with his.
“I need a drink” she explained as she led him towards the bar. The Iron Fairies was by far her favourite place to go in London. Just off the corner of Diagon and filled with odd staircases, hidden rooms and shelves upon shelves of bottles of fairy dust. It provided a feast for the eyes and the dark lighting combined with the smoky atmosphere allowed Rowena to truly relax. There was no one here she knew. It was a blank slate, a stark difference from Mungos where Max Kameren currently seemed to be at every corner she turned. She had half-heartedly contacted a few people but it had been last minute and all had had other plans. After the sharp stab of sadness that no one really wanted to spend time with her, the young healer had decided it was just more reason to go out and meet new people. Maybe tonight would be the night she met her new BFF. Rowena giggled in amusement at the thought. That was highly unlikely, but, she thought as she glanced at the man beside her, it didn’t mean tonight couldn’t be fun.
She knew she looked good tonight. She’d always been proud of her appearance but she’d gone all out tonight, the short black dress with the low back that showed off her fox tattoo. And her misbehaving hair was actually framing her face quite nicely tonight. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes bright and for a second, she had a glimpse at how easy it could actually be to just be with people. Then she turned from the bar to ask what her partner wanted only to see him giving mouth to mouth with another girl against the bookcase. She rolled her eyes and returned her attention back to the bar. It was famous for it's absinthe but she'd found a delicious cocktail that she couldn't resist. She had no idea what was in except for some berries but boy did it do the trick.
“Another one of those amazing drinks please. The one with the blackberry” she said, smiling prettily at the barman. She took the drink and glanced out at the crowd, amber eyes scanning for a new potential dance partner (or new BFF...) as she sipped her cocktail.
