Name: Hexamus Konstantin Kryptr
Alias: Hexamus is sometimes called "Boo," owing to his pale complexion.
Age: 126. Turned in his late-30s, which is his perpetual visage.
Birthdate/place: [06-09-1875], Hoia-Baciu Forest, Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Species: Vampire
Gender: Male
Family:
Appearance:
Hair: Charcoal Black
Eyes: Bright Hazel
Build/Height: 5'9, Lean
General Description: When visible in the monochromatic light of dusk or by the low dancing glow of candles, Hexamus is a striking fellow, with features defined by distinct and dramatic contrasts. His un-deathly pallid skin has a notable blue cast and appears carved by his short charcoal black hair, which is rich, glossy and claw-like. Hexamus' eyes are a brilliant golden hazel and sit like ambers in pools of grey shadows. He has lush eyelashes, sunken cheeks and lips tinged blush. Hexamus normally wears his tailored finery (namely suits) but he does own a favourite t-shirt.
Possessions: Hexamus owns a spacious, ebony carved coffin from his native Romania in which he sleeps when he is away from home. He also travels with his creature comforts, including several antique lanterns, a walking stick and his owl, Vedenie. As are all the Kryptr children, Hexamus is on title for the palatial (and rather gothic) family estate in Cluj-Napoca.
Personality:
Temperment/Mental Attributes: Charismatic, well-spoken, introverted, intelligent, stubborn, neat-freak, impatient, picky and at times solitary. Despite sleeping in a coffin, he also is acutely claustrophobic. Hexamus is attracted to other men but rarely acts on his feelings. He fears what love will lead to.
Alliance: Vampires and other marginalized species.
Alignment: Neutral Good (but time will tell).
Employment&Education:
-Adults-
Former House: Attended The Durmstrang Institute
Job: Aquisitionist (Hexamus obtains rare items for the highest bidder)
Employer: Self-Employed/Independently Wealthy
OWLs/NEWTs: n/a
Other:
Magical Skills: Upon becoming a vampire, Hexamus lost all magical ability. His jaw strength is rather impressive though. He is notably fast and agile and has a near veela-like charisma that attracts both men and women.
Patronus: None
Wand: Hexamus does not have a wand but he does own an ebony walking stick with a sterling silver vampire bat knob. Nothing happens when he points it at people but it hurts when he hits them with it.
Goals/Aspirations: It is hard to watch your family suffer and not long for a time and place where all species are equal. Hexamus knows what it is to have everything and then have it disappear. Marriages have shattered, friendships have faltered. Freedom is neither offered or possible. Vampirism has only strengthened the family bond but it has not been easy and it never likely will be. For now, they survive.
Other Information: Has a Romanian accent and speaks fluent Romanian and English.
History:
Until the infamous early hours of April 15th, 1912, the lives of the Kryptr family of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, were rather like a fairytale. Sheltered by old wealth, strong social and political ties, and status as one of the most prominent pureblood families of wizard Europe, the Kryptrs knew success and little sorrow. The patriarch, Konstantin, was a highly-regarded arithmancer who was often invited to lecture at congressional gatherings of the International Confederation of Wizards. The matriarch, Narcisa, used her influence as a Black to strengthen diplomatic ties between England and the magical communities of the European Union. Their five children, each named after Konstantin's most favourite numbers, attended Durmstrang. The family donated great riches to the school and assured their children paths that would further instil the Kryptr name in the who's-who of wizard kind. Septima married in to the Nott family and served as a Senior Executive Assistant to a warlock in the Wizengamot. Tessera married in to the Rowle family and became a successful fashionista for couture witch wear. Novem was an auditor of Gringotts through the Goblin Liaison Office of the Ministry of Magic and Centum, who stayed closer to home, was an advisor to the Romanian Minister for Magic. The eldest child, Hexamus, followed his heart for the hunt and became a cursebreaker. With a keen interest in artefacts and mysteries, he became successful enough to start contributing to the family coffer.
Amongst the chaos of large family gatherings, there was legitimate love and loyalty to be found, which is how it came to be that when Konstantin was offered an opportunity to travel to New York in 1912 to lecture to the Magical Congress of the United States of America, his wife and all his children and their spouses would agree to follow so that together they would experience a family vacation. Oversees travel for magic folk was, at the time, somewhat risk-prone and special arrangements were made for the clan to sail in secrecy aboard a Muggle vessel called the RMS Titanic. Also travelling on official business of the Magical Congress was an American author - and vampire - known as Amarillo Lestoat. Lestoat was less a guest of the Congress and more a prisoner, having recently been found guilty of boring 12 American wizard readers in to a stupor that allowed him to deplete their bodies of all blood. The vampire remained locked in chains in a lightless broom closet beside the Kryptr's much grander suite. He was guarded by the American auror.
Lestoat's flamboyance added a certain spice to sea life and while he never left the broom closet, he still managed to spend several hours each day entertaining the Romanians with stories through the bolted door. He found a particular bond with Hexamus, who had showed him some empathy, and before long the auror gave up on demanding the vampire remain silent.
Shortly after 11:40pm on April 14th, the Titanic hit an iceberg. The Kryptr's, unfamiliar with sea travel and the ramifications of the impact, watched with much confusion as scores of Muggles ran past their invisible suite. The fear was palpable on the Muggle's' faces and although the Romanians spoke some English, there were words and phrases that were foreign to them, much less because of language and more certainly because they did not belong in magic. Words like flares, lifeboats and unsinkable. The auror gave the family instructions to stay and left the room with his wand only just hidden. It would be the last time the Krytpr's saw him. Soon after, the floor started tilting.
Amarillo Lestoat made an offer at 2:00am. Knowing that their time was short and that he was well and truly doomed to an eternal headache at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, he implored Konstantin Kryptr to release him from his broom closet jail cell in exchange for the possibility of survival for his entire family. In short, he would turn Konstantin, his wife, his children and his daughter's spouses before they suffered a cruel death at the hands of the icy ocean. The offer only stoked the nightmare, as emotions got the better of all inside. The family had tolerated Lestoat during the voyage but in truth vampires were a species with little credibility (and little fan base) in the international magical community. Some saw them as murderers, others as night-time tyrants that required constant monitoring and earned little trust. Sebastian, Septima's proudly pureblooded husband, could not fathom that Konstantin would even consider it, and lashed out to attack the patriarch, only to find himself taken to the floor by the much stronger Hexamus. Sebastian fled the suite, and his wife, to face his fate on the upper decks.
Lestoat made a final plea when he knew there was only then enough time to turn everyone. Konstantin looked first to Narcisa and then to his eldest, Hexamus. Hexamus nodded, removing the locks from the closet door and finding himself face to face with the towering blonde vampire, who regarded him for a moment before smiling with impeccable teeth and reaching for Narcisa's neck. Konstantin wept, holding his wife's hand until she finally went limp. One by one, the Kryptr's lost consciousness.
Hexamus was the last to expose his neck to Lestoat. For a moment, the vampire hesitated, holding his hand mere millimetres over the flesh before grasping the nape and pulling the man close.
"I will find you, Hexamus Kryptr. In one of our many lifetimes."
"Well," Hexamus tried to keep his voice even, "that's two of us who left a closet tonight."
Lestoat grinned lecherously before biting his willing prey.

The Krytprs would find their way home via a vessel called the Carpathia, which returned to Austria after delivering the Titanic's survivors to New York. No one spoke of Lestoat for a long while, nor their turn of fate. The family seemingly disappeared from the face of the earth until they were required to register their new status with the Romanian and British Ministries of Magic. The rumour mill exploded and the results were instant harsh. Careers were lost and hearts were broken. Perhaps the hardest hit was Teppo Rowle, who found himself all-out disowned.
For many years, the Kryptrs kept themselves in self-isolation at their estate, using the privacy to educate and protect themselves from battles they knew would come. In time, however, their fortitude would prevail and they slowly began to emerge again in to society. Leading the way is one Hexamus Konstantin Kryptr.
