Name: Rowena Lily Jones
Age: 21
Birthdate/place: Nottingham, UK 21/12/2016
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Family: Halfblood. Ulysses Holland is her grandfather but they’ve never met and she's heard very little about him.
Her parents are Ulysses "Henry" Holland V (halfblood) and Anna Jones (muggle). They never married but they live together in a small house in the outskirts of Nottingham.
Appearance:
Hair: Dark Brown.
Eyes: Blue
Build/height- 5ft6. Lean and tall, she holds herself straight and upright (and cannot stand a sloucher) but is also quite physically weak.
General Description- Rowena has pale skin which sometimes flushes with embarrassment. She has large round eyes which likes to use to her advantage and full lips. She doesn't often smile (especially in public), but when she does, its a full cheeky grin that lights up her face. She makes sure her appearance is always perfect...with the exception of her slightly wavy hair which always seems to escape and fly around her face.
Possessions-
Florence Nightingale's diary, given to her by her mother when she graduated from Hogwarts, is her most treasured possession.
She also has a small flat in London which is sparsely furnished but full of books and a Maine Coon cat called Pumpkin.
Personality:
Temperment/Mental Attributes- Vain and arrogant, Rowena can come across as mean and patronising, but those who know her better, she’s actually just putting on a show. She was brought up to strive for greatness, and finding out she was a witch only opened up new areas to excel in. She’s bookish and cannot tolerate stupidity. Or not getting her own way.
Rowena is a brash, fearless individual who isn't afraid to say or do what she wants. She can come off as abrasive to others at times, but deep underneath there is a softer side to her as well. However, she is embarrassed at this side of herself and thus exaggerates the harsher parts of her personality to hide it.
Alliance- Herself.
Alignment- Chaotic Neutral. Rowena has a tendency to think she’s always right and as such disdains things that get in her way, including rules. But on the other hand, she's a healer and will stop everything and anything to heal someone who is hurt. Though she isn't above using her healing knowledge for her own gain.
Employment&Education:
-Adults-
Former House- Ravenclaw
Job- Trainee Healer
Employer- St Mungos
OWLs/NEWTs-
Potions, - O
Herbology - O
Defense Against the Dark Arts - E
Transfiguration - O
Charms - O
Care of Magical Creatures - E
(and yes, the E's aggravate her immensely)
Other:
Magical Skills- Apparition.
Patronus- Mink
Wand- 10inches and made of Hawthorn. Unicorn and Pliant.
Goals/Aspirations- Head of Department and Expert in Potion and Plant Poisoning
Other Information- Though she lacks any particular magical ability, Rowena has a photographic memory and an innate ability to link things together in ways others may not even think to do so... this helps her immensely when it comes to finding antidotes and creating potions but also makes her paranoid as she can 'see' things where nothing exists.
She also speaks French, German and Italian to perfection (she wouldn't accept any less of course). One thing she will never admit to, is that she cannot draw or play any kind of instrument or sing. She has tried. And failed. The most she can do is make a sound or draw a stick figure. And she hates herself for it.
History-
Born to a happy couple, Rowena's childhood was nothing exceptional. Well as unexceptional as being a witch is. However, as she didn't show any signs of being magical until she was ten, there were serious concerns as to whether she had inherited her fathers magical ability at all. Though, her parents were happy, her father (following his own father's personality) was always very strict, expecting his daughter to strive for greatness (even if she wasn't going to be magical) and not accept anything but the best for herself.
Knowing that magic existed (as her father did not hide his abilities around the house) and yet not showing any talent for it at all made for a very aggravated Rowena. She dealt with this by reading every single book in her father's library, justifying this by saying that she would at least know all the magical theory even if she couldn't apply it practically. It was around the age of nine, that she first heard of Florence Nightingale, thus starting a lifelong obsession that would lead her to her current profession. Inspired by the achievements of a woman who defied social status and made a name for herself, Rowena stole her dad's wand, convinced it was all she needed to become a fully fledged witch. Needless to say, that plan backfired catastrophically and ended up in two rooms being destroyed as her magic finally showed itself to the whole neighbourhood. A few memory charms (muggle neighbourhood and all), a rant from her father and two weeks of isolation later (stealing her father's wand could hardly go unpunished after all), Rowena finally felt like her life could truly begin.
A little over a year later, she received her Hogwarts letter and she was off to prove to everyone that nothing or no one would get the better or stand in the way of Rowena Lily Jones. Sorted into Ravenclaw (of course) and meeting other magical people of her own age could have been a turning point in her life and things might have turned out very differently from what they did. However, being a confirmed witch only made her father expect more from her and Rowena often felt the strain of being perfect all the time. Her mother saw the effect this was having on her daughter and tried her best to soften the blow and was often heard saying that she would love Rowena no matter what. Henry on the other hand would be so disappointed whenever he heard that his daughter was not progressing at a correct rate that Rowena often forgot her mother's words and unconditional love.
Thus began the neurotic tendencies of Rowena Lily Jones, getting angry at even the smallest failure, expecting perfection from herself and her friends, and needing to be the best. This meant that in the end, Rowena had a very lonely time at Hogwarts, with only a few select people being able to stand such an intense controlling personality. However, she enjoyed the opportunity to learn and did manage to get to know a few people who she did eventually let her guard down to. These friends got to see a witty, intelligent girl who would support them through anything... until she didnt get the coveted position of Headgirl which, in her words, 'ruined her life'. She hadn't come first which was equivalent to losing. It was unacceptable and she threw herself into her studies to make up for it.
Knowing that she wanted to be a healer meant that she needed an E at N.E.W.T. level in Potions, Herbology, Transfiguration, Charms, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. She therefore aspired for O's in all of these subjects and choose to study Care of Magical Creatures for extra credit. She was therefore incredibly disappointed when she received two E's and her anger at herself was felt by all close to her for weeks. Graduation brought her most treasured possession, the diary of Florence Nightingale given to her by her mother (her father wasn't too impressed by her results either) and then it was out into the big wide world... or in Ro's case, London and St Mungo's. She bought a small flat and the quest for perfection continued.
Though she's older and has learnt to control the crazy a little, Ro finds it hard to let anyone see her failures and as such still comes off as very neurotic and hard to deal with. This has already led to a few situations in her new work place and caused rifts to form but maybe things will start to finally change.
