HEAD OF ST. MUNGO’S HOSPITAL DEAD AT 74
Healer Milton Bonham, O.M. I died early this morning at the age of 74, it is being reported. The prominent Healer and head of St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries reportedly died of an accidentally deadly combination of Sleeping Draught and a specialized potion to treat Sleep Apnea. Bonham was a prominent voice in the UK’s healing community, running London’s largest wizarding hospital and registering his name on several Potions patents. Healer Bonham was a nominee for the Order of Merlin First Class multiple times, winning the esteemed award in both 1993 and 2009.
Thought to be the last living member of the pureblood Bonham bloodline, Healer Bonham was the closest descendant of St. Mungo Bonham, the Healer who first established St. Mungo’s, and whose family has run the institution for centuries. Bonham began healing at the hospital at the age of seventeen, specializing in poisons and rising through the ranks as a Healer to take the Head Administration role from his father in 2006. St. Mungo’s prospered under Bonham’s leadership for decades, where notably Bonham launched a Field Healers Initiative during the Demon Wars that greatly lessened casualties in battle.
Recent attacks and security problems at St. Mungo’s Hospital have caused authorities to criticize the hospital’s administration, notably the death of the Head of International Magical Cooperation in August 2038, and the more recent disappearance of Healer Max Kameren. Bonham was reportedly working with authorities to upgrade the Hospital’s security systems; foul play is not being considered at this time in Healer Bonham’s death.
Bonham is survived by his husband of forty-two years, Healer Albert Schwaller. In death he joins his mother, Althea Bonham, and his father, Healer Mortdecai Bonham, O.M. III. A memorial for Healer Bonham will be held in the St. Mungo’s Atrium on August 12th. Funeral arrangements will be held privately. Healer Bonham’s husband requests privacy at this time.
