Rowena frowned as consciousness returned to her, confused as she waited for the familiar purring wake up she always got from her cats. She rolled over, vision clearing and Max’s sleeping silhouette coming into focus. Happiness flooded her as she remembered where she was, not at her house at all, but with Max, who was now her boyfriend. She grinned at the thought. She was content to lie there and revel in the surrealness of the situation for a few minutes, before she started to fidget. She had never been able to stay still and do nothing for long.
A small frown creased her forehead as she debated what she should do now. In the past, she would have been out of there as soon as possible to avoid the awkward morning after chat, but this wasn’t a random night of stress relief, this was Max and she was as reluctant to leave as she had been last night. But he looked so peaceful and he had a night shift coming up so she wasn’t going to wake him. Her fidgeting was going to do that sooner or later if she didn’t get up but then there was his flatmate to consider.
As if on cue, she heard a door open, and unconsciously held her breath as she tried to figure out what was going on on the other side of the closed door. There was the soft sounds of someone moving around and eventually another click of the heavier front door. Rowena relaxed. Eden must have gone out. The coast was clear. She could leave the room and wait for Max to wake up.
She took a couple more seconds to look at her sleeping boyfriend before slowly slipping out of the bed and padding across the floor as quietly as she could. She debated whether she should use magic to clean her clothes but had honestly never liked doing it. Maybe it was the Muggleborn in her but they never felt quite right unless they’d been washed with water.
That didn’t leave her with many options. She could go home and get changed and come back but that felt like a very odd thing to do. Also she didn’t know if she’d be able to come back. She’d come here on side-along Apparition which would have bypassed any wards if he had any. She wasn’t up to finding out the hard way if he did. She let out a quiet growl of annoyance. Surely this wasn’t supposed to be this complicated… She was definitely out of practice in the relationship department.
His dressers caught her eye and she hesitated. Would he be mad if she took something to wear? She bit her lip as she considered. Her own clothes that were in dire need of a wash or Max’s clean ones? That wasn’t much of a decision at all put that way. She’d deal with his annoyance if it came to it though she didn’t think he would be.
With the clothing situation sorted, her gaze turned to the collection of books. She’d already spotted one she wanted to read last night; she’d promised to help him in regards to his Empathy and there was no time like the present. She carefully removed it from under the others, and with one last happy look at him, slipped out of his room.
She was immediately greeting by Snitch and giggled quietly, not sure how well sound carried in the apartment, as the cat wove around her feet, almost tripping her over as she moved towards the couch. Finally sitting down, she patted the space beside her for Snitch to join her and then delved into the pages of the book.
Rowena had no idea how much time passed, but she certainly didn’t have enough to do much other than glance up as the front door opened. “Shit.”
