"Good because I want you. I want what ever future we can have. I don't care about the age difference. Or the scars. All I care about is you. I want a life full of laughter and more children. I don't need to have them but I want them if you do..."
Elle waited for what seemed like ever for a response. His heart beat faster under her fingers and she wanted to know what that meant. Did he want kids? Was she rushing things by bringing that up? It was too soon wasn't it. Suddenly Elle felt foolish sitting there on his lap with her navy skirt hiked up around her thighs. She was suddenly aware of how awkward it could be having such a conversation in an intimate pose. Elle would have swung off his lap but for his hands covering hers on his chest. Her gaze drifted to their joined hands. Hers were entirely covered by his. She should have been intimidated by the size, by how he consumed her own. She felt safe, entirely protected by him. Elle glanced up meeting his green eyes as he traced a curl.
"I want you, Elle, thats all I know. I havent ever had to plan for a future... I dont knos what else i may whant yet. " He frowned slightly, remembering her earlierwords.
Elle's breath hitched as he said he wanted her. A warmth spread through her and she smiled, flexing her fingers on his chest. That smile turned into a frown, her eyebrows knitting together when Alex spoke.
Do you really believe that Ellem, that i could think of you so horribly?" where had she gotten such horrible words, much less ascribed them to him?
"Believe what?" Elle said confused about the change of subject. Then she remembered her earlier words. She'd accused him of being ashamed of her age. Of not wanting anyone to know that he was dating her because of what they would say. Elle's cheeks flamed red and she looked away. She shifted off Alex's lap so she was no longer straddling him but was sitting half on him and half on the chair, shifted so she could see his profile.
"When I got those gifts without a name. I thought they were from you. I thought you were trying to keep me a secret. I mean people look at me with you and they automatically think I'm after you're fortune or something. I mean that lady at the dueling range and then Sheila's comments. I'm sorry. I know you don't think about that but it's hard sometimes not to let what other's say get to you."
