“Well, you’re too late for that.” Max pulled her in closer to kiss her, lightly nudging her forehead with his in affection. “You’ve got me telling you all about my dark and twisted past, my neuroses come with that too you know. Should’ve read the fine print.” He smiled as he kissed her down her neck, his whiskers tickling her skin.
Rowena hmmed, tilting her head back to give him more access. "Always that damn fine print!" she cursed in mock anger, "but fine. A little bit of worry in exchange for more of you. I guess you're worth it." She giggled as his beard tickled a particularly sensitive spot before pushing him away a little to try and focus enough to finish their conversation.
“Dueling practice sounds like a great start. I've been doing some by myself... but it'd be good to practice with an actual person. We'll just have to lose a couple of hours sleep every now and then to practice?"
“I am always willing to lose sleep with you.” He grinned. “I’ll find a way to blackmail Milton into giving me a day off, and this time we’ll go to the Dragons so my sister doesn’t dictate our lessons."
She rolled her eyes at his continued suggestive tone, even as she felt her body responding. Max had a way of chasing her worries away with just a few words and she liked him all the more for it. But she couldn't help but pout a little when he mentioned Dueling practice without his little sister. Evie Kameren had been highly instrumental in Rowena beating Max in their last practice. How would she win this time without the help?
"But for now…” Max slipped his arms behind Rowena’s back and under her leg, hooking the other one under his arm in one swift motion to stand and pick her up, cradling her with her head against his chest. “Let’s go to bed, shall we?”
Rowena let out a giggle as Max lifted her in his arms, her own wrapping tightly around his neck and she promptly forgot all about little sisters and dueling and focused purely on the man holding her tightly as they navigated the dangerous task of going upstairs to her bedroom.
.
"As long as we're not going to sleep..." she teased grinning wolfishly at him, "and please don't drop me!"
It didn't take much longer until she forgot all about fuggy memories and the threats of War.
