Should Auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind...
The Three Broomsticks was a busy place on New Years Eve, with only three hours to go until 2037 began. The dance floor had been invaded by tables, now filled with the holiday patrons. On the wall a huge clock glowed silver, the glittery sheen getting brighter with each minute closer to midnight. The sounds of revelry rang through the bar; it was a warm, cheery place. People were enjoying themselves. It was getting just late enough that a blissful drunken hum settled in among the partiers.
In a table at the center of the pub a couple sat across from each other. They were the first there to claim the table, but the large size of the table told they intended to meet others. They sat at the table next to each other rather than across. Max and Rowena had began their celebration of the new year as soon as they got off work at five that evening. Max had needed it, to dull his sixth sense before going out for New Year's. Though it had been stretched over time, Max could feel he was quite solidly drunk. So much so, that he didn't notice the emotions going on around him.
"Would you like champagne, love?" Rowena grinned up at Max, whose lank form was even tall when sitting.
"What? No, it's only nine o'clock. That's a midnight thing, innit?"
"Well, not if you don't want it to be."
"But... it's supposed to be." Max drawled in his slight Irish lilt, looking around groggily at their surroundings. Rowena was impatient with him tonight, and he knew it would only get worse. She did this sometimes; she would get in a mood, turn wild and lash out at him. He only hoped she wouldn't hex him in his sleep again. He knew what her narrowed eyes meant. "Alright, champagne."
He stood and approached the bar, weaving around tables and through groups to get there. On his way, he spotted some familiar faces amongst the many he had not yet hat the pleasure to meet.
ooc: wanted to do a New Year's Eve thing. Everyone join in & ring in the new year! Though it's open to everyone, I'm advising this as an adults only thread. The shrunken heads will be turning the students away at the door tonight!
